How Students Are Powering Change, One Pair of Socks at a Time
Every year, dozens of schools across the Greater Toronto Area come together for a cause that’s as simple as it is powerful: collecting new socks for people experiencing homelessness.
Through their annual sock drives, students, teachers, and families are helping Socks 4 Souls Canada bring warmth, comfort, and better health to our unhoused neighbours — one pair of socks at a time.
Why Socks Matter
Clean socks are one of the most requested yet least donated items in shelters. For those without stable housing, a new pair of socks can prevent painful foot infections, provide warmth, and restore dignity. It’s a small item that makes a big difference.
By organizing school sock drives, students learn firsthand how small acts of kindness can have an immediate, tangible impact in their community.
How It Works
Running a sock drive is easy, fun, and rewarding. Schools can collect brand-new socks, fundraise online, or do both. Socks 4 Souls Canada provides everything you need — from how-to guides and posters to support from our team.
Real Impact
School sock drives have helped collect thousands of pairs of socks — enough to support 30+ shelters and outreach teams across the GTA for the 2024/2025 winter season. These efforts helped keep thousands of people warm, dry, and healthy through the coldest months of this year.
