Helping make Thanksgiving happy for homeless people in Toronto
Despite the pandemic making everyone’s lives more difficult, the S4SC team have been especially determined and committed to ensuring that the lives of homeless people in the GTA are improved in any way we can help.
For Thanksgiving, members of our leadership team volunteered at Good Shepherd Ministries to hand out specially prepared Thanksgiving meals to people experiencing homelessness in Toronto.
The team helped to hand out over 950 meals to homeless people, and each meal included a fresh pair of socks for those who came.
These socks will help keep them mobile, and we aim to continue to handing out fresh socks over during the next couple of months to help people experiencing homelessness in Toronto prepare for the colder weather.
Dr Christine Tang, Co-founder of Socks 4 Souls Canada, helped out at the event:
“This was an extremely humbling experience, and it reminds me again how lucky I am to have a roof over my head during this pandemic. It was also a very fulfilling way to spend Thanksgiving. My thanks go out to the volunteers and leadership at Good Shepherd for letting Socks 4 Souls help out. They are doing such amazing work for homeless people in Toronto.”
The event was also featured on CTV news; you can view the video here and catch a glimpse of S4SC’s team members in action.
